Fifteen players first took the field in Edmonton against a team from Calgary
1929
Formation of the Canadian Rugby Union
Spring 1958
The first Alberta Spring fixtures are organized involving the Edmonton Rugby Club (Pirates), the Calgary Barbarians Rugger Club, the Edmonton Wanderers Rugby Club, and the Penhold R.C.A.F. Rugby Football Club
Fall 1958
The first Alberta Fall fixtures are organized involving the Edmonton Rugby Club (Pirates) the Edmonton Wanderers Rugby Club, and the Calgary Barbarians Rugby Club
1961
Alberta Rugby Union elects a president
1966
Alberta fields its' first provincial rep. team against British Columbia, and Eastern Canada, at the first National Championship
1970
Alberta Rugby Union incorporates as a society
1974
Canadian Rugby Union incorporates as a society
1974
Edmonton Rugby Union begins building Ellerslie Rugby Park
1976
Calgary Rugby Union builds Kingsland Rugby Park
1976
Alberta fields its' first Junior Men's Rep. Team to attend the U19 National Junior Championships
1977
Rural clubs from Grande Prairie Lethbridge and Red Deer join the regional league competition
1978
Alberta hosts its first International Match - France vs. Canada at Kingsland in Calgary
1987
Alberta hosts the first Women's National Championship, and the Alberta Provincial Women's team wins the first title
1990
Alberta fields it's first U17 Men Rep team who attend the first National Championships for that age group
1991
Alberta hosts the first National Championships for U19 Women and wins the competition
1993
Alberta hosts the 7th Asian Pacific Congress in Calgary along with two international matches, involving Canada vs. Australia
1995
Alberta hosts the Women's Canada Cup competition
1999
University of Alberta incorporates women's rugby as a varsity sport, and the team wins the CIS Championship
2000
Alberta hosts the first Combined Junior Championship of U18 Men & U19 Women Alberta Summer Games incorporates rugby into the games for both girls and boys playing the 7's game
2003
The Alberta Rugby Union is officially known as Rugby Alberta with a new logo.
Alberta wins the Senior Women's Championship at the first Rugby Canada National Festival
