Rugby Alberta is proud to present the 2017 – 2018 Junior Player Development Program and is currently seeking player applications. The aim of the Player Development Program is to offer an athlete-centered environment for emerging rugby players, ages 14-18, in Alberta to challenge their rugby potential and expose them to a higher level of training.
The program will provide game-based training to challenge the player’s knowledge/game understanding as well as their skill acquisition of the National Key Themes:
- Run, Catch, Pass
- Ball Out of Contact
- Tackle Technique & Tracking
- Breakdown & Clear out
Based out of Notre Dame High School in Red Deer, the program will be spread over five days (once/month) from November – March. The players will receive five full days of rugby, a training top, and a monthly education/sports science component.
Registration for the Player Development Program will open on October 25th via the Rugby Alberta website. The cost for the program will be $150.00. Rugby Alberta hopes to see all interested players apply by the November 8th deadline as registration will be capped at 80 males and 80 females.
