Rugby Alberta Launches New Discipline Policy – Effective May 15, 2025
Rugby Alberta is proud to introduce a significantly updated Discipline Policy, officially approved by the Rugby Alberta Board on May 5, 2025, and coming into effect on May 15, 2025. This overhaul marks the first major update to the policy since 2008 and introduces a clearer, more consistent, and impartial disciplinary process across all levels of play in Alberta.
Key Highlights:
  • Establishment of a new Discipline Committee: This independent committee will oversee all rugby competitions in the province. With broader representation and a structured appointment process, the committee is designed to enhance fairness, eliminate potential conflicts of interest, and increase the efficiency of reviews.
  • Expanded policy framework: The updated policy outlines detailed procedures for discipline matters including send-offs, citings, misconduct (both on and off-field), sanctions, appeals, and how suspensions are administered.
  • Transparency & consistency: Findings from discipline hearings will be publicly posted on the Rugby Alberta website, reinforcing our commitment to transparency and upholding discipline standards.
